Initiative: Bilingual Advantage
Bilingual Advantage is an initiative by the Government of Canada that aims to encourage bilingualism in schools and communities. The government will fund projects (up to $1000) that engage students from Core French, French as second language and French immersion programs in activities outside the classroom.
This is GREAT news for schools that are interested in Perspectives’ Saint-Donat program but may not have the funding right now. Our trips to Saint-Donat offer action-packed French language, culture and outdoor education in a picturesque winter playground. Students get to learn and practice their language skills in a truly French environment with their teachers, Perspectives staff, and the entire Saint-Donat Community.
Who can Apply?
Any teacher from a Core French, French as second language or a French immersion program in Canada from grades 3 to 9 can apply if they wish to fund their Saint-Donat Trip or another bilingual activity or excursion.
In order for your school to qualify, your activity must:
– Promote bilingualism in your school and in the community;
– Engage students in Core French, French as second language and French immersion programs from grades 3 to 9 in learning experiences in an immersive community;
– Be supported by the school management.
