Students enrolled in Core French and French Immersion classes spent four days immersing themselves in French culture and language this winter.
From February 10-13, students and staff enjoyed Upper Grand District School Board’s (UGDSB) annual trip to the small town of St Donat, Quebec.
This year, 37 students from Centennial CVI, Centre Wellington DHS, Erin DHS, Guelph CVI, Orangeville DSS and Wellington Heights SS took part in this unique immersion experience. Teacher chaperones were Mme Christina Schilling, Mme Teresa Katerberg, Mme Stephanie Severn and M. Mason Reid.
For four days, the students were led in French by qualified “Moniteurs,” engaging in activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skating on a 2 km track through the woods and taking ski or snowboarding lessons at nearby Mont Garceau. Along with the outdoor activities, students took part in a number of workshops including music and percussion, ecology, a scavenger hunt through town and an evening talent show.
